Duh ! OJ !
We have finally become a nation of simpletons.
Where did we go wrong? Was it our educational system? We never really learned to read and think. Maybe too much extra curricular activity? Too many electives? Grade inflation?
Maybe it was MTV? That could be it, fast tracks of the sensational, it had to last only a minute. Flashes of things, no depth. After a few minutes we were lost. MTV was copied by other media and now if an idea can’t be digested in one minute we are lost, confused.
Or maybe it is our sports spectator society? We can only sit and watch and not do. If it isn’t an inning or a quarter we don’t know what is going on. Empiricism, what’s that?
And so the news is all about an evangelical who is gay and uses drugs? Or a Senator’s botched joke, last month it was a pedophile, but to top it all off, today, an imaginary OJ confession for which a book company and TV broadcast company are going to pay real money. Is this really real?
I ask who would pay for this nonsense. Who? Anyone who didn’t know OJ was guilty of murder was lost in some state of self imposed denial. But to show it again proves once and for all the decline and fall of the American intellect.
Faux News has field days with this type of material but who watches Fox? Talk about deep thoughts, only a comedian can do this justice.
Imagine the narrator or the warning before the TV show begins. Warning what you are about to see is for morons, if you are not a moron please change channels. Actually that’s what it should read.
Where is Walter Cronkite when you need him? Cost of living, health care, wages, jobs, environment, corruption, war, the arts, are these no longer important - but a murderer who needs money is - Canada is there room up there?
Maybe it is the water?
