The times …are they a-changing

I am finally finishing Derrick Jensen’s ‘the culture of make believe,’ the book is a bit torturous as it tells a history most do not want to face or even know about. As you read it you think over and over again this has changed, Blacks, Native Americans, workers are no longer treated this way, unions and good old moral sense tell us this stage is over. But then I read a piece like the following and I wonder.

“Since Bush arrived in Washington, more than 230 coal miners have perished in 206 mine accidents. Hundreds of others have been injured. Thousands suffer from chronic ailments and lung diseases caused by hazardous working conditions.”
